Angels ... With Carrie Ann Ryan

 Why Angels?

As you read my newest book, Dust of My Wings, (well I hope you read it LOL), you'll notice that I'm talking about Angels and not wolves. If you never read any of my work, you know that I'm a huge werewolf fan. I can't help it, they were my first supernatural love, and will always have a special place in my heart. But one day when my Muse struck in a little plot bunny wouldn't go away, I came up with the idea of a whole new world of supernaturals. One where it wasn't just wolves anymore, but everything.

So in a world where there are angels, demons, bears, (oh my!) cats, Fae, mermen, and pixies, I get to let my creativity go and find out what these characters can really do.

But why did I pick Angels first? They don't really know, other than the fact that Shade, my hero, came to me first. He was the one who wanted me to try something new, and not just stick with one type of paranormal creature.

I would love to be able to fly. When someone asks me what super strength or other ability, I would want, it's usually always flying. I have dreams that I fly and usually, it's without wings. But come on, have you seen Angel wings? They are amazingly beautiful.

And I made no exception in my series. I wanted to make sure that I could fall in love with these Angels, so their wings are beautiful. My Angels are not godly, far from it. They weren't made by the creator, and art the pinnacle for what is right and just. They're just like any other, with their own government, rules, and families.Shade is a warrior Angel, meaning he is the one who is swift and just carries out the rules of his brethren.

So why did I pick Angels? Because there something that's always been on my mind, and beautiful. And, what happens if some of them aren't quite as beautiful on the inside?

So tell me, why do you like Angels? Do you like reading about them? (I hope so LOL)

Dust of My Wings
by Carrie Ann Ryan

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Humans aren’t as alone as they choose to believe. Every human possesses a trait of supernatural that lays dormant within their genetic make-up. Centuries of diluting and breeding have allowed humans to think they are alone and untouched by magic. But what happens when something changes?
Neat freak lab tech, Lily Banner lives her life as any ordinary human. She’s dedicated to her work and loves to hang out with her friends at Dante’s Circle, their local bar. When she discovers a strange blue dust at work she meets a handsome stranger holding secrets – and maybe her heart. But after a close call with a thunderstorm, she may not be as ordinary as she thinks.
Shade Griffin is a warrior angel sent to Earth to protect the supernaturals’ secrets. One problem, he can’t stop leaving dust in odd places around town. Now he has to find every ounce of his dust and keep the presence of the supernatural a secret. But after a close encounter with a sexy lab tech and a lightning quick connection, his millennia old loyalties may shift and he could lose more than just his wings in the chaos.
Excerpt:
Lily huffed out a breath and placed another tile. “I don’t hate my job, exactly. It’s just not that big of a deal.” She gave a triumphant smile. “And I win.”
Shade looked into her eyes and groaned. Damn, she was sexy when she looked so confident.
“Indeed you did. Congratulations, Lily.” Now for the part that could hurt them both. “How about I buy you a cup of coffee as your winnings?”
Lily looked taken aback, but Shade didn’t budge. He needed to know exactly what she knew about this dust. Breaking into her lab and stealing it would do nothing if the die were already cast.
“Oh, you don’t have to do that. In fact, I really don’t even know you, so I can’t. But thank you.”
She gathered the tiles quickly and started to stand up, but Shade touched her wrist. She jumped, knocking a few tiles back on the table. A jolt of electricity ricocheted through his arm and they both gasped. His erection pressed against the zipper of his jeans and he groaned, but he didn’t let go. Lily’s breath quickened and her pupils dilated. Her strawberry scent wrapped around him like velvet, intoxicating.
  1. In all honesty, angels are not something I think about. I love to see how authors create new worlds or different ways to look at our world. Shade intrigues me & changing the way angels are looked at is fun.
  5. Angels really intrigue me. I always picture angels as righteous beings--being God's first children--but I also see them as beings with a huge desire to break away from their ways and experience life as we humans do. And Lord knows, there are many temptations here on Earth, lol. Angels aren't as equipped as we are to handle such temptations.
  6. I love angels, especially when they struggle with (or embrace!) human emotions such as romantic love and lust. They're so beautiful and compassionate, but vulnerable.
  20. I love reading about all types of paranormal creatures. I love how different the author stories are. Like if two author write about vampires, the two worlds are so different (Ex: Chicagoland Vampires and Twilight)! It's the same with angels!
